Comfort is everything when it comes to style for me. I am obsessed with oversized sweatshirts… they’re cozy, warm, and effortless. Luckily, my brother lives in oversized everything so I constantly steal pieces of clothing from his closet! A friend once asked me how I can dress up a sweatshirt without looking sloppy. Here is how I like to style it:
1.) Add texture. It makes things more interesting and funky. I decided to keep it low key and add a black fur vest. The leather leggings also add a touch of bad-assery to the look.
2.) Balance the outfit. The general rule of thumb for me is this: big, oversized top = fitted bottoms. Fitted tops = loose bottoms. If you pair loose fitting sweats with an oversized sweatshirts you will look bulky – hence it is important to avoid wearing non-fitted bottoms if you’re going for a more polished look.
3.) Accessorize! Accessories can change the entire aura your outfit gives off. Don’t forget that shoes can count as an accessory.I love the way a sneaker looks paired with sweatshirts and I love sneakers in general. Even a pair of slip-ons with a funky pattern/colour could really give your outfit a pop! You could wear a cap like I did, throw a blanket scarf over the sweatshirt, or you could rock this look with a messy bun, heels, and a large, sparkly statement necklace. Same outfit, different vibes.
